Inside these caves people used to find shelter. They also once toiled in them extracting stone –hence the name Rochebelle (fine-quality rock).
Today, wine lovers delight in visiting these ancient quarries. There are no cave paintings for them to discover; instead they admire the harmoniously arranged lines of new oak barrels, which are renewed every year. Here also, in an atmosphere of peace and quiet with soft, gentle lighting, the château’s bottles, Rochebelle’s treasure, slowly mature.

You then go down into the cosy, theatre-like atmosphere of the château’s monolithic caves. The tour is rounded off with a wine tasting in the specially-designed tasting area, which offers a panoramic view over the Dordogne valley.
